[ARCHIVED] Emerald Ash Borer Detected in New Jersey

The tree-killing Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) has been detected in New Jersey.  The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection is strongly recommending that action is taken to protect ash trees in the community.  As the pest spreads, it kills 99 percent of all ash trees.

Ash trees are located in 24 percent of the forests in New Jersey and are a common landscape tree frequently located along roads and in parks and yards.  If infected, hundreds or thousands of trees may die posing a hazard to residents and infrastructure .  The NJ Forest Service has put together an "EAB Action Kit" to help municipalities and their residents plan, assess and take action.  For more information or to access the EAB Action Kit visit
