Online Reporting Requirements

Welcome to the Plainsboro Township Police Department Citizens Online Police Reporting System. Using this online citizen police reporting system allows you to submit a report immediately and print a copy of the police report for free.

Please confirm the following to find out if online citizen police report filing is right for you:
  • The incident occurred in Plainsboro Township, New Jersey.
  • The incident is not an emergency
  • The incident is not a crime in progress
  • The incident does not require immediate police involvement
  • There are no known suspects
  • There are no injured persons
  • The type of incident is listed below. No other types of incidents may be reported online using this system.

Reporting Guidelines

Incident Definition Examples
Lost Property
When property is missing or lost and is not suspected to have been taken by someone
Property that is missing, leaving items in a restaurant, or missing from home
Damaged Property
When property is unintentionally damaged. Does not include motor vehicle collisions
A golf ball unintentionally strikes a vehicle and causes damage
Theft Your property is taken without your permission
Property suspected to be stolen by another individual
Identity Theft
Obtaining someone's personal identifying information and using it to obtain credit, goods, or services
Someone obtains a credit card using your Social Security Number or obtains phone service using your personal information
Criminal Mischief (Vandalism)
The act of intentionally changing, modifying, or defacing public or private property
Graffiti, knocking over mail box, throwing rock through windows, etc.
Traffic Complaint
Informing the police of observed traffic violations
Reoccurring speeding violations in a neighborhood or residential area

Reporting Online

If the above statements are true, you are able to file your report online. Please make sure to turn off your pop-up blocking software before filing the report. If you are unsure or unable to decide if the incident meets the criteria for online citizen police report filing, please read the FAQs or call the Police Department at 609-799-2333 for assistance.

Please Note: Filing a false police report is a crime. Any false information given may result in prosecution under N.J.S. 2C:28-4 (False Statements to Law Enforcement Authorities).

Reviewing Reports

  • All online reports will be reviewed Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Any reports filed after business hours or over the weekend will be reviewed on the following business day.
  • All incidents requiring immediate police involvement must be reported by calling the police department at 609-799-2333 or by calling 9-1-1 for emergencies.
  • Upon review, if further investigation of your case is needed, you may be contacted by email or by telephone.
Upon completion of this report process you will:
  • See the words: "Your online police report has been submitted" showing that your police report is complete.
  • Be given a police report case number.
  • Be able to print a copy of the police report to keep for your records.

File Your Report Online

If you have read the above information in its entirety regarding citizen online report filing, and understand that all emergent incidents are to be reported by calling 9-1-1 immediately and all non-emergent incidents requiring immediate police involvement are to be brought to the attention of the police department by calling 609-799-2333 then proceed to the report form. (REMINDER - The incident must have occurred in Plainsboro Twp., NJ or the report will NOT be accepted).
