The Plainsboro Township Police Department would like to warn all parents and participants about the dangers associated with the “Pokémon Go” game.
The Pokémon Go game uses the player’s environment to encourage them to find virtual characters on their GPS enabled devices and cellular telephones. There have been many close calls and injuries to participants that are not paying attention to their surroundings while searching for items related to the game. It has been noted by officers of this department that the distractions have caused participants to walk aimlessly into a roadway while looking at their electronic device while conducting their search. Please see the below listed tips for participants of this game.
- Be aware of your surroundings at all times
- Do not trespass onto private property (Homes or Businesses)
- Do not go near railroad crossings and tracks
- Always use crosswalks and signals when crossing a street
- Don’t walk in unfamiliar areas, especially at night
- Remind Children not to talk to strangers
- Do not play the game while driving a motor vehicle
- Do not use your device while crossing a street
- Our parks in town close from sunset to sunrise- No one is allowed in the park during this time.
