In April 2016, New Jersey Family magazine rated Plainsboro for being one of New Jersey’s Best Towns for Families. They examined New Jersey municipalities, evaluating schools, crime rate, affordability and diversity and Plainsboro ranked 23rd out of over 500 municipalities!
“We are very proud of this recognition by New Jersey Family magazine. We have worked very hard for the past several decades to make Plainsboro a great place to live, work and raise a family”, said Mayor Peter Cantu.
In addition, the magazine ranked Plainsboro 5th in diversity, indicating studies have shown that exposure to diversity at an early age boosts cognitive development, learning and social skills. New Jersey Family magazine went on to say Plainsboro had “great schools, reasonable housing prices…and a wonderfully diverse population”. The magazine also recognized the Township’s preservation and open space efforts, emphasizing the Plainsboro Preserve and the fact that it encompasses more than 1,000 acres where families can hike, go bird watching and enjoy the environmental education center run by the NJ Audubon Society.
