Personnel

Field Operations is the backbone of the Police Department. The Field Operations Lieutenant oversees 12 patrol officers that are supervised over 4 shifts by 4 Sergeants as well as 4 Corporals.

Responsibilities

Field Operations Officers are responsible for the initial handling of all calls that are received by the communications center. These calls vary from disabled vehicles to felony level crimes in progress. Calls that necessitate an immediate arrest are handled and completed by the patrol officer including all processing and bookings of the suspect.

Calls that require further investigation are referred by the officer to one of our Special Operations units such as the Detective Bureau or the Traffic Bureau. Field Operations officers, at times, work hand in hand with the Detectives or Traffic officers to complete the case.
