A permit is required for new construction or remodeling work and home additions, interior or exterior renovations, mechanical equipment replacements, electrical and plumbing work. A few examples of work that require a permit are as follows: construction of a new home or room addition or garage; construction of a deck, raised patio with steps and finishing your basement. Routine home maintenance does not require a permit or notification. If you are planning a project, contact the Building Division to determine if permits are needed.
