Pianist, composer, and arranger, Nat Adderly Jr. is best known for his work with Luther Vandross. Nat was the music director and arranger for the R&B singer from 1981 till 2003. He has produced, composed or arranged music for the Temptations, Ruben Studdard, Paulette McWilliams, Kirk Whalum, Natalie Cole, Johnny Gill, Aretha Franklin and Doc Powell. Nat Adderly Jr. is featured on three CD's released in 2016: "Invitation" by Nicolas Bearde, "Harlem Hieroglyphs" by Jay Hoggard, and R&B artist Jaheim's "Struggle Love". Nat received his BA from Yale University in 1978.
Roy Richardson, Jr.
Saxophonist, percussionist, flautist, and vocalist Roy Richardson, Jr. started playing flute at the age of 9. His first professional gig was with a reggae band back in the 80's. Roy has toured with Queen Esther Marrpw and the Harlem Gospel Singers. He has performed on stage with the late Woody Shaw, Charles Earland, Jimmy McGiff, Narada Michael Weldon, and Norman Connors just to name a few. He has also worked on projects with Leon Huff. Highlights of his career include performing at the Montreal Jazz Festival in 1998 and at the Vatican for the Pope in 1996.
A 17 piece swing and jazz band, specializing in hits of the great bandleaders of the 1930's and 40's, such as Glenn Miller, Harry James, Tommy Dorsey, and many others, but the group also has a great library of selections from the 'Jazz Orchestra's, such as Buddy Rich, Woody Herman, and Stan Kenton. The focus is on historically significant artists and compositions, such as Duke Ellington, Benny Golson, Benny Carter, and great American song book writers, such as the Gershwins, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and many others.
